Environmental
declaration
Like any digital product, this website has an impact on the environment, but accurately measuring its environmental impact is difficult due to the lack of scientific consensus on the energy consumption of digital products.
To make the results easier to understand, we have chosen to use only one tool: Website Carbon.
We are aware of others and that the results may differ. Website Carbon usually gives higher carbon estimates and we prefer to overestimate the impact than the opposite. Please note that this assessment focuses only on the front-end of the website (the part visible to visitors) and does not include the back-end of the website (where it is managed) nor the production phase.
The results below can only be considered as approximations and estimates.
To design and build this new low-carbon website, we've partnered with Hey Low.
This website is cleaner than 80 % of all web pages globally,
achieves an average carbon rating of B
and is powered by Renewable energies.
Carbon estimates per year
With an estimate of 50,000 visits per year, and with the homepage as a reference point,
this website is estimated to emit around 10kg of CO2 per year (vs 51kg previously).
By comparison, 10kgCO2e is the same amount of emissions as manufacturing, consuming or travelling: 37 litres of bottled water, 17 litres of coffee, 46km by car (combustion engine), 0.3 smartphones, 1.4 meals with beef or 20 vegetarian meals.
Based on data from the ADEME (French)
As mentioned above, these results do not take account the full range of the impact.
